Posted on 10. Sep, 2011 by jimbate.
Thursday and Friday, September 8th & 9th were two fun filled days that involved refreshments, food, golf, food and more refreshments. Thursday evening was spent on the Hector listening to Spyder MacDonald and enjoying free beer, and scotch. Lots of food from a local restaurant was also consumed. On Friday, 68 golfers enjoyed the sun and spent the morning trying to win the Hector cup. Lots pf prizes were won by the players. We had 23 NSCC student volunteers helping out and they were very professional and worked very hard. Thanks to every who was involved, great job.

Colin’s Visit
Posted on 05. Sep, 2011 by jimbate.
Wow, what an unexpected surprise, Colin arrived for the long weekend. All four boys were home for Devon’s move to University. Adam and Colin had arranged this visit and did a great job of keeping it a secret. The weather was fantastic and we all had a great Labour Day Weekend. The swim in the pool was very refreshing.

Boston Pizza Review

Boston Pizza
Dartmouth Crossing
September 4, 2011
Every time I eat at Boston Pizza I enjoy myself. It must be the company because it is not the pizza. I had an individual deluxe pizza without the ham and a soft drink for supper Sunday night. I knew the pizza would be small and I was not disappointed. The crust was all encompassing which left very little room for the toppings and the taste was somewhat bland and doughy.
Now I realize that Boston Pizza has other specialties, however, it is a pizza shop so I was expecting the best tasting pizza in town… like I said disappointing.

Settlers Salt Water Café
Pictou, Nova Scotia
Friday, September 2, 2011
This restaurant is situated on the waterfront in Pictou and had a wonderful view of the harbour and local tourist attractions. My lunch consisted of a cup of fish chowder and the killer chicken sandwich with fries. The chowder was a small portion however, it was served piping hot and was very tasty. It had a very rich seafood taste and was loaded with fish. The killer chicken had melted cheese, mushrooms and green peppers over the large piece of chicken in the Kaiser bun and was very satisfying. The fries were pub style and served hot. The price was reasonable for the style of restaurant and was $ 77.00 including the tip for four of us.

Stone Soup Café Review

Stone Soup Café
Tuesday, August 30, 2011
Pictou, Nova Scotia
A young server served the bowl of fish chowder in an outdoor setting. It was served at the same time as my clubhouse sandwich. The fish chowder was a little too runny and did not have a rich seafood flavour. The ingredients were somewhat sparse and lacking in size. The clubhouse sandwich was on whole wheat and I prefer it without tomato. The chicken and bacon were cooked well, however the bread was too thick which made the toasted crust too flakey and it had to be removed before eating it.
The price of the lunch was reasonable, $ 35 including tip for two guests and the restaurant, though small was quaint and pleasant.
