I purchased a membership for Devon a couple of weeks ago so he could take a youth training program. He and I went to check things out last Saturday and I enjoyed the exercise. The Pictou YMCA is smaller than New Glasgows and much friendlier. We both went this past Saturday and I joined. It has been awhile, but I am glad I went. Nice to get in shape...here goes.
I started a digital photography course last night and enjoyed it very much. It is 3 hours a week on Tuesday nights and there is about 14 of us taking it. We are all there with our cameras and are eager to learn. The instructor works at a local camera store and has been in the business for 30 years. He is giving us advice on how to take pictures as well as instructing us on the ins and outs of how our cameras work. I am looking forward to learning more about some of the software available to enhance the photos.
Devon and I went for a nice walk today with Roxy. We went for a stroll through the woods above our house and let the dog run free. The path was overgrown and we had to be careful not to snap the branches back into our faces. It has been about 3 years since I have been up there, but it is as beautiful as ever. It was nice to be able to let the dog off her leash and get lots of exercise. We didn't see alot of wildlife other than one rabbit, but we did hear a partridge take off when Roxy ran through the woods. Hunting season starts soon, so it won't be safe to venture to far into the woods unles we wear our hunter orange clothes. Maybe we will do it again soon.

I now know what a skunk smells like up close. Roxy went outside in the morning and came face to face with a skunk...or should I say face to butt. She got sprayed in the face and then came in the house. It was a couple of minutes before we realized what happened and got her out again. WOW! What a stink. I was asked to leave work and Devon and Peter were asked to leave school...all we could do is laugh.
Next time we will check the yard for skunks.

Well...it's here again. The last minute scramble to find the right costume. We brought up the four bags of old clothes and costumes and started to go through them earlier today. Devon, Nadine and I picked out what we wanted to wear. As you can see we went as a devil and vampire. I carved the pumpkin tonight and copied what Patrick did for Dad's pumpkin...thanks Patrick. I hope everyone has a safe and fun day.

Last Thursday Devon had his first basketball practice of the season. Eleven boys turned out and they all made the team. Peter and I are coaching the team this year and I hope we have lots of fun. It is the first time I have coached a team so there is alot to learn. Peter will help me with the technical plays and I will keep things under control. I will be posting the schedule on this web site...so stay tuned.
